Nepal Trekking - October 14 Day 9
Ghasa→Rupse Chhahara→Tatopani (Altitude:2010m→1550m→1200m)

Starting from Ghasa, the water flow in the Kali Ghandaki River begins to accumulate. Occasionally, there are waterfalls on the cliff pouring down the valley to join the river. As we descend to Rupse Chhahara, more bushes and floral type of plants are in sight replacing the tall pines and cypress. Every now and then, we need to cross suspension bridges and change sides on either river banks. Except a couple of places, the slope is gentle and renders a pleasant journey though from time to time we need to make way for the mule trains head on. No transportation is possible here and all goods are carried by mules, otherwise by people.

11:00am we sit ourselves in the restaurant in Rupse Chhahara facing a waterfall awaiting for our lunch. The 5m wide waterfall is purported to be the biggest in the Annapurna circuit.

The journey after lunch is pretty smooth. Walking pass Dana, we can still see the oldest brick buildings with wood carved windows. The structures are well maintained in good shape. Near Tatopani we are confronted by a landslide of a larger scale. Since it has been stabilized for some time, there is not much danger passing through. 2:15pm we arrived at Tatopani, the "hot water" place and completed 19Km of length.

Tatopani has got a hot spring by the riverside. The open air semi-pool sized spring attracts quite a crowd of visitors, especially those after trekking for days. If the spa is not enough to get rid of fatigue, one can still enjoy the cure of massage at a fraction of price. Tatopani is a tourist spot filled with stores, lodges and restaurants; no doubt you will find more food varieties other than pasta. Our dinner menu is a well balance of meat, fish, vegetables and pasta which cannot be matched elsewhere in the trek.

After dinner, drum music breaks out in the roof top and draws in a big crowd of porters, guides and visitors. Songs and dances are unplugged one after another for both relaxation and entertainment. Tatopani is inevitably a stop for everybody to recharge, not just the electronics.
