Nepal Trekking - October 19 Day 14
Chomrong→Sinuwa→Bamboo→Himalaya (Altitude:2170m→2340m→2310m→32450m)

This morning Prem set up an outdoor breakfast by surprise. The beautiful scenes of the Annapurna range and the Macchapucchare add a host of natural flavour to our tea and bread; and no doubt that we treasure much this moment. Never in a life time one would have this luxury of bite.

The journey to Chomrong is down and up the Ghurjung valley and in between we need to cross a river. Most part of the trail is soil based, however, once near villages the paths are paved with big stones, hence comfortable to trek. As for the ambience, it is very agricultural but natural; terrace fields and farms co-exist with wild flowers and trees, birds and insects. Wild animals are rare, and by chance one will perceive the white-faced monkey in the tall trees looking on to people passing by.

11:00am we arrive at Ghurjung where many of the Gurkha inhabit and many of whom serve the British army overseas. Without exception the owner of the restaurant where we have lunch has served HK some 20 years ago. He now retires and uses his pension to operate a guest house. After lunch, we walked for 2 more hours to arrive at Chomrong totalling the mileage for the day to 8.5Km in 4h30m.

Chomrong is the gateway to the Annapurna Sanctuary, i.e. the trek to MBC and ABC. Once inside the Annapurna Conservation Area, the observation to envronmental protection should be strictly followed; e.g. the use of kerosene instead of woods, no bare fires ...etc to mention but a few.

Before dinner, Prem consult our intention to donate to the village for bridge and road works. After dinner, the villagers organize a party in the patio and perform cultural singing and dances as gratitude. The dark out in the evening does not affect the atmosphere and the night is filled with unplugged music and dances in traditional costumes.

When the music dies down and the people fade away, the patio returns to its peace. The sky is so clear and the silver snow mountain stands out from the starry night in the back drop. Twinkle, twinkle little stars ...
