Today is the climax of our Nepal trip - the two base camps are close encounters. But this won't come easy, we have to overcome an ascent of 1000m and a trail of 10Km. Unfortunately, previous AMS deter 2 of our team members from moving forward. They have but no choice to stay in Himalaya and miss the summit opportunity.
At the half snow covered 3000m level, the earth is only suitable for bush plant and this time of year is their season, hence a flourishing green amongst the black and white surroundings. Up the high hills, melting snow flows down gracefully forming different sizes of waterfalls to cherish the visitors. The twinkle sparkled by the shinny stones of various colour on the footpath extend a warm welcome to the trekkers.
MBC sits on a flat ground in one of the valleys surrounded by snow mountains. It is basically a natural camping site but now enhanced with 3 guest houses providing more than primitive accommodation and food supply. Continuing uphill is the trek to ABC, where one will find more grasses and stones than bushes in the lower altitude. The climate suddenly turns misty and grey as we ascend ABC. But the next hour the sky clears up and the stunning panorama of the Annapurna, Hiunchuli, Machhupuchhare is a reward to the conquerers. Not far away from the north of the base camp is a shrinking glacier due to global warming. There are only two guests houses in ABC and the poor late comers have to return back to MBC for stay after enjoying the sceneries of the surrounding moutains.

At sunset, the sun sheds its dying beams on the Machhupuchhare changing the colour of the summit from golden yellow to orange then to pinky orange. After dark, the temperature falls acutely and the outdoor becomes unbearable without suitable gears. The kerosene stove under the dinning bench becomes a favourite and summons all the guests to the dinning table. Outside in the open air, the starry sky is tempting the trekkers but hardly attracts any because of the chilling temperature.
